Annually, since 1990, Pantone Color Institute has nominated The Color of the Year, this forecasting the trends that will be followed by manufacturers or consumers from various fields (interior design, art, fashion, lifestyle or even gastronomy).
Pantone is unanimously acknowledged as a worldwide authority in the area of expression of creativity, exploration and hues standardization.
The founder, Lawrence Herbert, created in 1963, the system of identification, matching and precise communication of colors, which has developed in time in an international standard. PANTONE® MATCHING SYSTEM® is now a common language used by designers, artists, manufacturers, retailers and consumers from a large range of industries.
At the end of 2014 came the much awaited nomination for this year: Marsala is the color of the year 2015!
Defined as a naturally robust and earthy wine red, Marsala is an intense color, whose elegance pops out and determinates a strong impact when used as a dominant color. Equally efficient it can be used as an accessory that will manage to emphasize many other neutral colors.
How can you integrate Marsala in the interior design of your home? There are many possibilities and the choice can be difficult, but we hope our suggestions and examples below will be helpful.
Dominant color
The walls on which Marsala is the main color, will receive an additional touch of elegance if you hang on art pictures and by applying light colored decorative rods and furniture items the effect will be enhanced.

Accessory
You can easily line up to the chromatic trend of the new year, even without redecorating, by using colored accessories. Properly combined small furniture items, curtains, pillows, vases, picture frames, lamps or books with Marsala covers will bring a trending element to the room.

Contrast
Used for walls finishing, the color of the year will bring to the rooms a sophisticated aspect. And this can be brought out even further by the addition of very light colors: rugs, lamps, paintings or doors and windows polystyrene frames.

Splash of color
By using a single Marsala colored item you will refresh and enliven a room in which the dominant colors or anchors are very light. You can chose many interior design elements, such as an armchair or sofa, or even a simple bedding.
